BLADERUNNER, Theatrical version released
Jan 07, 2008 - 9:56 AM - by Swift Voyager
For any true Bladerunner fan, the Director's cut was a hard blow. Nearly 15 years ago, they introduced the Director's cut of the movie on DVD and just decided to stop making the original theatrical version. To the best of my knowledge, it was impossible to get the theatrical version once the VHS copies sold out.

The difference between the two versions was striking. The theatrical version had loads of narration by Harrison Ford and a scene at the end that gives closure to the story. The director's cut removed both of these, so you're missing a large portion of the original dialogue.

Right after Christmas, they released "The Final Cut" version, which also lacked the Harrison Ford narrations. I was devistated. However, right after New Years they also released a 4-disc collector's version that HAS ALL THE OTHER VERSIONS!!! Yeah!!!

After 15 years of not being able to see the original version of the film, I'm finally able to see it in its best format.

Interrestingly enough, the new theactrical version includes a commentary from the director, Ridley Scott. In this commentary he clearly states that he doesn't like the original version of the film and he's not happy that it had to be included in the boxed set. I'm really glad someone finally forced him to release it.

So, if you're a fan of Bladerunner or Phillip K Dick, you've got to check out the new 4-disc collection and get a copy of the theatrical version before Ridley Scott finds a way to get them off the shelf again.

Kohnke Communications accuses Perpetual of Fraud
Dec 11, 2007 - 8:06 PM - by Union
Well it looks like PE's troubles are indeed getting worse.. This is a big one unfortunately. Fraud charges are very damaging and not issued lightly. If PE is indeed guilty of fraud, they can certainly kiss their STO goodbye. What could this mean for the future of the game?? Beats me.. stay tuned.

Quote:
"Kohnke alleges that the scheme to defraud Perpetual's creditors goes far deeper than paper transfers to a malformed corporation. According to Kohnke, Perpetual canceled Gods & Heroes: Rome Rising in large part due to the more than $280,000 in incentives that would be owed to Kohnke upon the launch of the moribund game and the subsequent financial impact on the development of Star Trek Online."
You can read the whole story as it develops on TenTonHammer.
